{"id":128,"date":"2020-10-14T15:05:05","date_gmt":"2020-10-14T14:05:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.knob.blog\/?p=128"},"modified":"2020-12-09T10:05:52","modified_gmt":"2020-12-09T10:05:52","slug":"the-next-chapter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.knob.blog\/penile-cancer-journal\/the-next-chapter\/","title":{"rendered":"The next chapter&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>15th April, Royal Marsden Hospital, Sutton Branch, Surrey, England<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-it-s-like-the-first-day-in-a-new-job\">It&#8217;s like the first day in a new job<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m at the Royal Marsden in Surrey today.  It&#8217;s a shining example of what the NHS could be if we started shooting political activists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I expected to use the one in Chelsea, but while everyone\u2019s on COVID holiday this works for me.&nbsp; I have a new consultant on board.  An academic, and clinical oncologist who\u2019ll decide on the best routes for my radiotherapy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The doctor is one of the leads at the institute for cancer research, I couldn&#8217;t be in safer hands. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My <a href=\"https:\/\/www.knob.blog\/penile-cancer-information\/scars\/\">surgery wounds<\/a> are all healed now, and I&#8217;m feeling ready.  It\u2019s time to get this over and done with, or at least &#8211; most of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next week I\u2019ll have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.knob.blog\/penile-cancer-information\/scans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">another CT scan<\/a>, then I have radiotherapy for 5 days a week for 5 weeks.&nbsp; With 5G being big news, I wonder if they\u2019ll just replace all of those expensive Linea accelerators with a mast in the carpark?&nbsp;(I also wonder how well 5G jokes will age?)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5 weeks of this, then a scan every 3 months for 2 years.
